Avast Ultimate is a security software with an impressive detection rate and a host of other features. Its malware scanner earned an excellent score in my tests, and its web protection stopped a lot of phishing sites that slipped past Chrome and Firefox’s default protections. Other features include a Rescue Disk, a secure browser for online shopping and banking, advanced tracker blocking and a VPN.

The user interface of the suite is easy to navigate. The main screen shows a list with icons that clearly explain the functions of each tool. The color scheme for Avast is orange, white, and blue. It’s easy to read and pleasing to the eyes.

In the Explore menu, you’ll find more detailed options for each tool, including custom scans, boot-time scanning, and an automatic updater. You can also save specific types of scans to the “Scan Center”, so you can run them again at a later time.

In addition to the more advanced features, Avast’s anti-virus can stop ransomware attacks by securing your system for suspicious activity and encryption of any files that might have been targeted. It can also detect a trojan horse (a malicious program that gets into your computer disguised as genuine software) and stop it cost reports from running on your system.

Avast’s security services are supported by 24/7 email, live chat and phone support. The free versions of Avast are backed by a vast knowledge base and community. Paid plans are loaded with advanced features such as identity protection, USB protection, patch management, and unlimited VPN.
